Using cash accounts to track spending

One of the hardest part of managing money while traveling is dealing with local currency. Voyage Vault excels at helping you spend in one currency and balance your budget in another.

Cash accounts

Because you can set the currency for every account, a great trick is to make a different cash account for each currency you use.

This allows you to withdrawal money from a savings account that's based on your home currency, and spend that cash in the local currency. It also gives you the ability to see how much local currency you have on hand and to make sure you've documented each cash transaction.

Savings Account (USD)
ATM Withdrdawal -$100

Cash Account (EUR)
Cash Deposit +€170
Tour + Tip -€100

Euro Cash in pocket = €70

Since Voyage Vault has no limit on the number of accounts, this technique works no matter how many countries you visit. For every cash withdrawal from you bank accounts, create a matching deposit in a cash account, but in the local currency of the cash received.
